WHAT WE DO
We:
- encourage the joys of reading, writing and digital skills to Early Year Learners and young people from non-English of English as a first language communities, who are failing within the formal learning institutions due poor literacy, particularly those at risk of developing challenging behavior that may lead to criminality and gun crime.
- provide a voice to unpublished or aspiring BAME authors and illustrators especially those advancing children’s books.
- recruit and train people from UK’s diverse minority communities to mentor and provide support to learners who are identified as lacking confidence in literacy (reading writing) and STEM (Science Technology Engineering and Mathematical) skills.
- work in partnership within the government’s current STEM initiatives to make these relevant to learners from non-English as first language speaker communities.
- Provide virtual, and on-site mentorship support programs that include providing opportunities for placements overseas to expand both the mentor and mentees knowledge and experience and reduce the intergenerational concepts and cycle of social disadvantage.
